Shayne Thompson

The 2024-2025 school year will be Coach Thompson's 15th year of teaching Spanish and her 7th year coaching in the Starr's Mill Volleyball Program.

As a player, she played at McIntosh High School and on an Olympic Development Team in Atlanta, as well as at Upland High School in California.

After graduating high school in California, Coach (AKA Señora) joined the Army and served as a Spanish linguist.

After leaving the army, she attended California State Polytechnic University for her Bachelor's degree and Sierra Nevada College for her Master’s degree.

Coach moved back to Peachtree City in 2010, this time to raise her own family. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and exercising - she swims and runs regularly, and has run 2 half marathons and numerous 5k's.

She and her husband Jeff (also an educator) have been married for over 20 years, and they have two children, Jacob, (SMHS graduate, now in college), and Hannah, a senior at SMHS.

The 2024-2025 school year will be Coach Day's 6th year of teaching and her 2nd year coaching high school volleyball.  This will be Mrs. Day’s second year at Starr's Mill High School as the ESOL Teacher.

Coach Day was born and raised in the Peachtree City area, other than her time away for high school at Georgia Cumberland Academy and college at Southern Adventist University in Chattanooga, TN.

As a player, she first played at Trinity Christian School. Her love of volleyball was sparked again during the lockdown of 2020. She has enjoyed playing in adult volleyball leagues in the area since 2021. In her free time, she loves playing volleyball with her husband and friends, spending time with her 2 big dogs, and listening to audiobooks.

Erin Badger

9th Grade Coach

Coach Badger is delighted to return to SMHS on the volleyball court! Coach Badger was a player on the first SMHS volleyball team to ever go to state, and during her four years as a player went to the state playoffs twice, the Elite Eight once, and earned accolades on the all-area team.

Coach Badger graduated from Starr's Mill and went on to earn a bachelors and master's degrees in Math Education. She returned to Starr's Mill in 2009 as a math teacher and JV volleyball coach. During her 2 years as JV coach (2009, 2010) and 4 years as Varsity coach (2011-2014), the panthers went to the state playoffs each year, making it as far as the Final Four in 2012.

Coach Badger stepped away from formal teaching and coaching to bear and raise her cute kids while her family spent several years in Utah and Texas. The Badgers returned to PTC in 2023 and Coach Badger is excited to return to the classroom and gym!

At home, Coach Badger enjoys spending time with her family, playing games, planning vacations (Disney/cruise/beach), and cheering her kids on in their endeavors. Her husband, Justin, cooks the best dinners in the world and they enjoy getting away together. She and her husband recently celebrated 15 years of marriage and have three children, Levi (7th grade), Macey (4th grade), and Gavin (1st grade).
